Traveling is officially a luxury item. We should let go of the pre-pandemic plane ticket prices and of the sweet times where lowcosters truly cost “low”. For the average person now an affordable holiday experience is about being smart with planning and utilizing every opportunity to save an extra buck.
And, of course, it’s all about the destination:
Not too touristy so the prices are insane, but touristy enough so there’s plenty of options regarding transfers and accommodation;
Preferably nice all year round, so you can go there during the off-season. For example, perfect for students during spring breaks!
Good balance of organized activities, such as excursions (that will cost money) and things to do on your own, such as exploring town or hiking in picturesque scenery;
Nice reputation online, while simultaneously not too popular, so you can discover the authenticity of the place on your own!
We took it upon ourselves to make some suggestions on holiday destinations in Europe for the year 2025 that reflect the characteristics we listed. Here’s our pick on where to travel next year if you are on a tight budget, but want to discover the true wonders of the Old World.
The next one is a real gem that people unfairly overlook. Plovdiv in Bulgaria is the oldest city in Europe and one of the six oldest populated cities in the world. You can imagine how culturally significant and rich this place is! And amazingly budget-friendly. The average tourist spends around $70 per day on food and accommodation, and there’s plenty of tourist attractions that are cheap or provide discounts, for example for students. Create a trip and offer to bring something from Plovdiv – surely someone will be interested!
Turkiye is largely known for its delicious food and very affordable tours and activities. The weather is nice practically year-round, which makes this destination very popular for tourists from all over the world. There’s truly endless things to do, but if we could recommend one thing, it would be Cappadocia, a region very Instagram-famous for its otherworldly landscape and hot-ballon flying scenery. And the best part is – we have A LOT of orders from Turkiye on our website!
Arguably the cheapest destination in Europe – Albania – provides tourists with splendid views, rich culture, great food and unmatched hospitality of its people. Albania wasn’t trendy up until two years ago, and now it's getting the attention it deserves. The country is so small you can visit the main cities in one quick spring break. And make your money back – create a trip on Parlaxy and make a delivery!
This is a short list, but we will be back with more suggestions! To get a great experience, your trip doesn’t have to be expensive. Pick a cheaper destination, make plans beforehand, buy tickets on sale and don’t dismiss the opportunity to earn some money along the way – become a Parlaxy Traveler!
